/ A new story

NatureBased Images (5).png

In 1978, cultural historian Thomas Berry described the challenge of our time in simple but clear terms: “It’s all a question of story. We are in trouble now because we do not have a good story. We are in between stories. The old story is not functioning properly, and we have not learned the new story.”

By now we do know what we’re fighting against, and what we need to stop doing: Reduce emissions. Limit growth. Minimise impact. Clean up the mess we made – and are still making. But do we know what we’re rooting for?

Systems do not change by doing things just a little bit better.
Real change requires a vision, a transformational narrative. The only way to truly change a system is by changing its purpose.

It's time for a new story.

But here’s the good news. A new story actually already exists. Not just emerging, but ready to pick up and run with, framework and all. One that is deeply rooted in the natural world, and has evolved over 3.8 billion years.

All we need to do is tune in.

Changing the sustainability
discourse from reducing impact
to growing impact

“The answers to our questions are everywhere;
we just need to change the lens with which we see the world.”
